In texts about migration, in films that look back, or in the ordinary conversations between people who, especially on holidays, share their experiences from different corners of the world, two emotions often stand out vividly — sadness and optimism.
Optimism is the way a person allows themselves to be an adventurous idiot. In Ivasha and Stephanie’s book périphérie, it is presented precisely in that naïve, unceremonious, childlike way
Sadness, on the other hand — directly tied to the regional context — we wear it on our faces; we even take pride in it. périphérie fully recognizes that furrowed sensitivity, which becomes even rougher when thousands of kilometers have been crossed, especially at an early age.
The book contains four stories by children who migrated to Paris and who, by coincidence, are now adults. Each text is more scraped, more frantic than the previous one, yet at its core, these are simple, unfiltered stories — competing in authenticity and tonal richness with the photographs that accompany them.
Although anchored in the real world, the stories provoke clenched teeth and demand that the reader drink a small glass of alcohol before and after finishing them.
The Daniil Kharms-like title foretells the feeling that both the texts and the book itself are offended by the surrounding reality — that they, too, are migrants within their own paper-and-ink world.
Periferi recalls Musique Concrète and the analog audacity of Pierre Henry, carrying the same fragmentary nature that characterizes not only avant-garde and experimental art, but also childhood imagination. And that imagination, in turn, flows — both consistently and magically — between the letters of the text, evoking the scents of Allende, Márquez, and Borges.
The foundations on which périphérie stands are incredibly shaky, solitary, and slightly bowed — but not desperate. They exist in a constant state of transition, in tune with perpetual change, and yet, somehow, they are at home forever.

Литературен продукт “périphérie” е не-литература.
Това не е бунт срещу нещо или някой.
Не е книга.
То просто е.
“В текстовете, свързани с миграция, във филмите, които поглеждат назад или в обикновените разговори между хората, които най-вече по празници, споделят преживяванията си в различните кътчета на света, много често се открояват ярко две емоции – тъга и оптимизъм.
Оптимизмът е способът, с който човек си позволява да бъде авантюристичен идиот.
В книгата на Иваша -“périphérie”, той е поднесен точно по наивния безцеремонен, детски начин. Тъгата пък – пряко свързана с регионалния контекст – си я носим на лицето, дори се гордеем с нея. “périphérie” абсолютно разпознава набраздената чувствителност, която става още по-неравна, когато хиляди километри са изминати, особено в ранна възраст.
Книгата съдържа четири разказа на деца, мигрирали в Париж, които по стечение на обстоятелствата вече са възрастни. Всеки текст е по-охлузен от предишния, по-панически, но в своята същност това са съвсем обикновени истории, които съперничат по достоверност и цветова наситеност на придружаващите ги фотографии.
“périphérie” напомня на Musique Concrète и аналоговата дързост на Пиер Анри, и съдържа същата фрагментарност, която освен за авангарда и експерименталното изкуство е характерна и за детското въображение. Което пък от своя страна последователно и по магически е излято из между буквите на текста, навявайки ухания на Алиенде, Маркез и Кортасар.
Основите, на които лежи “périphérie”, са невероятно клатещи се, самотни и с леко сведен поглед, но не са отчаяни. Те са в постоянен преход, те са в едно с непрекъснатата промяна, но са и у дома си завинаги .”
